Hardware Services 2.6.0
B-17332
This version of hardware services provides the following enhancements. (For information about installing Hardware Services 2.6.0, see Installation and Setup.)
Allow Communication with TLS 1.2
To satisfy PCI requirements, this hardware services release allows communication with version 1.2 of the Transport Layer Security (TLS) protocol. The TLS protocol allows client/server applications to communicate in a way that is designed to prevent eavesdropping, tampering, or message forgery. TLS 1.2 provides tighter security than previous versions, and provides support for authenticated encryption.
Hardware Services 2.6.0 is backwards compatible, so it will communicate with earlier TLS versions.
Update .Net Framework
We updated Hardware Services to require the .Net Framework 4.6 or greater to support TLS 1.2. The ABC Auto Updater installs the latest version of the .Net Framework, which is currently version 4.6.2 (for more information, see ABC Auto Updater 1.4.0).
Update Background Check In
Previously, the Background Check In service module did not accept some line termination characters such as cr and lf; it only allowed crlf. This was especially an issue when attempting to use an RFID device with cards that only had an lf.
Now, this module will allow any combination of cr and lf in any order or individually. For example: crlf, cr, lf, and so on.
Add Web Socket Support
We added web socket support for hardware services.
Update Verifone to Support for Donations
We added the ability to collect charitable donations using a Verifone device. This enhancement is in preparation for a future release to allow clubs to run promotions for charitable contributions.
ABC Auto Updater 1.4.0
The ABC Auto Updater is a service that scans the server at set intervals and then automatically downloads and installs available updates. In addition, the Auto Updater ensures that the correct .Net Framework version is installed on the computer.
The auto updater is set up to automatically update itself as well as EMV. We will add the ability to automatically update Hardware Services in a future release.
For information about installing the ABC Auto Updater, see Installation and Setup.
